Wrap up warm and pop on your boots as there’s plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy in Carmarthenshire, even on a rainy day! Well, why let a little drizzle stop you from having fun on your holiday.
Here we offer you 3 activities to enjoy come rain, snow, we’re hoping …or shine, to keep you thoroughly entertained during your festive season holiday:

  1. National Botanic Garden of Wales
Only a short 20 minute drive away from Tanylan Farm is the breathtaking Botanic Gardens of Wales. While there are some outdoor attractions here the main element of the gardens is the massive, single-span glasshouse structure which is the largest of its kind in the world! Well worth a visit. In it you’ll find thousands of tropical plants you may have never seen before. After a long walk inside the glasshouse and perhaps a visit to the natural world inspired art gallery, you might be feeling a bit peckish, so pop into the on-site café and a gift shop and can take a little piece of this beautiful site home with you.

  2.  The Welsh Quilt Centre
If you’re interested in textiles, art and/or Welsh history, this is the perfect place for you. Built by Jen Jones to honour the Welsh quilt, this gallery features works from not only Wales but around the world. There are endless amounts of pieces to be explored throughout the several galleries in the centre. This centre has been attributed to preserving this vital part of Welsh heritage and has won commendations from the Cambrian Mountains initiative so it's safe to say that is an important building and a must-visit on a rainy day.

  3.  Carmarthen Market
This market has been around for 800 years and it’s clear to see why, filled with independent vendors this is one of the best places in the area to truly experience the culture in Carmarthen. From clothes shops to cake stalls, bazaars to butchers, it’s a great place to pop into to not only support local traders but to stock up on ingredients for a cosy evening meal in. The market is in a modern, airy hall making it an ideal activity for the rainier days and it’s open from 9 am-5 pm every Monday to Friday.

Here we have listed just 3 local attractions, but of course there are plenty more places to visit.
If you’re wanting to get out and about, there are plenty of winter-friendly activities in the surrounding areas. Explore the several historic castles or embark on a cycling adventure along route 4 of the Celtic Trail.
